What did you do last Friday night? Sarah Johnson and I invited some friends over to partake in adult beverages and explore the mysterious caverns of our attic. Our mission: find treasures. What treasures did we hope to discover, you ask? Cash-money, diamonds, jewels, SOLID gold… the possibilities were endless! For a brief moment in time, I fantasized about finding an antique chest filled with vintage dresses that were just my size.
I’m sure you’re wondering what inspired such an adventure. Well, they say that during the Great Depression people hid money behind their walls, under floorboards and in attics for safekeeping. I’ve heard more than a few stories about people finding money while renovating or updating a house built during the early 1900’s. Our landlord even said that one of his previous tenants found $3k in the wall behind their counter tops while installing a new dishwasher. He also made a point to tell us that our house was indeed built during the late 1920’s. Needless to say, this sparked our curiosity and was the inspiration behind our Friday night adventures into the attic.
Here’s 12 seconds of footage from our adventure featuring our friends: Jill, Katie, Tyler, John and Amedeo (who stayed below the “hatch” to hold down the fort):

We didn’t find any treasures during this inaugural journey into our attic, but it was an interesting experience none the less – not to mention a great way to bond with friends on a Friday night. That said, I challenge you to explore some unknown cavern within your own house… in search of treasures, or course. Let me know if you find anything!
